About

tonyThis is the personal site of Tony Fountaine.

I grew up in a Christian family and attended church regularly.  At some point I stopped going to church and focused my time on my education and career.  I didn’t go back to church until I got baptized and married in an Orthodox church.  When we had children I felt an urgency or obligation of some kind that I had to teach them the word of GOD.  Knowing full well that only GOD can call my children, my hope is that with my prayers and introduction of his word to my children he will indeed call them.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Like many other Christian followers, I had a very challenging circumstance in my life that literally brought me to my knees.  There was no way for me to humanly solve my problem.  At that point I turned completely back to GOD and left the problem in his hands.  The very next day my heart was whole again like a thousand bricks were lifted off my chest.  To my surprise this was only the beginning of a long journey for me.  Which is summarized nicely in this scripture.

1 Peter 4:12-13
12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

This site contains links to other Christian websites, music, movies, books and sermons that I have found useful in my quest to understand more about GOD and teach my children his ways.  I think that more than ever, there is great quality material available for Christian families.  The movies and music that are being produced lately are amazing.  It’s not always easy to get kids to want to watch a Christian movie but when they start watching they will become engaged and genuinely want to hear the message being told.

My greatest hope for this site is that someone will find it and begin to follow a path that leads them to the creator.  That is what Jesus told us to do, Go forth and make disciples of all nations.  To have to carry the burden of the world we live in on your shoulders is super human.  Jesus came so that we wouldn’t have to carry that burden.  The pain and suffering when dealing with life’s challenges and other people can be overwhelming.  The following verse from the Bible changed the way I think about the world.

Ephesisan 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The message is clearly stating that there is a spiritual dimension that we are all fighting against.  When we realize that this is true we can better understand why some people act the way that they do.  We can also accept that we are not really fighting against them in the flesh and blood.  As baptized Christians we also have a spiritual force at work for us in the form of the Holy Spirit.  When Jesus left, he said it was better that he did so that the Holy Spirit would come.

John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

It’s our job to draw closer and engage the Holy Spirit so that we can seek help and wisdom from him to comfort us.  Pray for help from GOD consistently and fast if it’s required.  He will answer your prayers.

Mark 9:29
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Notice that the quotation doesn’t just include prayer.  It also includes fasting.  Some prayers will be answered by prayer alone.  Some will require the use of fasting.  In this particular case Jesus cast a demon out of a person while the apostles were unable to do it.  He is showing them that some demons require more than just prayer alone.  Whatever your demons may be, pray and fast diligently so that you can escape them.  I like to think of fasting as prayer with an exclamation mark.  You are making a personal sacrifice to GOD.  It shows that you are praising him with the understanding that only he has the power to solve some problems.  We can’t bribe GOD with fasting, but he does say that when fasting is done in secret he will hear your prayer.  It’s always his will and his glory at the end.

Mathew 6:18
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

    Dear Mr. Fountaine,

I loved your Open Dyno project articles and bookmarked them on Code Project. When I came back reading them again yesterday, I was so sorry they had been deleted. I have no idea what happened, but I do hope you will reopen the project in the future. Thank you very much and God bless you.

    Sincerely yours,

    Hello there Tony!
I’ve reahed your site because I was looking for some dyno plans, because I am planning on building one. But…
But never question a God’s plan, even if it uses Google to get you there 🙂
Interesting thing… my family is going through some rough time here, as dad has a cancer (which we hope, with the help of God, is in good control), and your site showed up.
Good way to start the day and, if I may say, the readings on your “About” where very comforting. Again, never question God’s plan.

Let me ask you two things. Wouldn’t you like to put back the OpenDyno project up? I would gladly help. Second: In case you say no, would you mind sharing your stuff and allow me to put the project back up?

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Thanks,
    Luiz Salomon

      Luiz,

I’m sorry to hear about your father. I will pray for him. You are right about God’s plans he always has the best ones.

I’m not sure what type of plans you were looking for or what your background is. The OpenDyno project was mostly software written in C++ and C# and the design of the data acquisition system. I ran into some problems with my employer and was forced to take down all of the software and articles (this is still not resolved). There are some versions of OpenDyno available at other sources on the internet that I can’t control. If you do a search in Google for OpenDyno you can find some of them.

OpenDyno was a second generation control system based on the work I did for my thesis. You can download a copy of that from Google with the search term “tony fountaine thesis”. In the back of the thesis you will find a bunch of code snippets that show how a lot of the internals of the original project worked. You could essentially use those snippets as the basis of a new project. OpenDyno was an optimized and more flexible version of the original. The largest change was the creation of a new GUI and the move from QNX to Linux with PREEMPT_RT. If you download one of the versions of code from the net you will be off to a good start. OpenDyno is capable of doing anything that you would get from the commercial dyno control systems costings hundreds of thousands of dollars. It’s been used to execute autonomous test sequences on the most power engines that one of the big three sells.

If you have any further questions I can answer them for you. Best of luck on your project. I hope to one day resurrect the OpenDyno control system. Maybe you’ll beat me to it!

      Cheers,
      Tony

This is an awesome site Tony! Great job….Success is like a seed. Depending on the SEED you plant, and how much you water it, that will determine the harvest you reap.
Plant the SEED from the One who said “I wish above all things that you prosper and be in good health….in this life” and
In Me are all of the promises yes and amen!
